Evasive Maneuvers

Created during the Big Hadron Games project, 2009

Evasive Maneuvers was created with Steve Pugh as our first two-week Big Hadron Games project. We designed the game together, drawing upon our prior experience working together and designing an alternate reality project. Flash was a new platform to both of us so we hit some bumps along the way but we were able to overcome all of our challenges. Upon sharing our game at the end of our two-week cycle, we discovered that while we had controlled scope ruthlessly, we had ignored key usability aspects of the game and therefore our players had trouble understanding the game controls and concepts. But as first time Flash developers, we were ecstatic and astounded that we were able to create a working game in such a short period of time.

Role: • Designed the game with Steve Pugh
• Researched World War Two planes
• Art: Created all elements (except the bullets) in Photoshop
• Animation: Keyframed animated all elements in Photoshop and Flash
• Completed the game on time and in two weeks
• Blogged about the game
